I'm a native Californian and long-time resident of "Surf City" Huntington Beach who rediscovered art following a graduate degree and successful careers in public administration and business. After a life-changing weekend workshop with Paul Heussenstamm, internationally known Laguna Beach spiritual artist as well as surfer, I eventually went on to become a professional mandala artist and teacher with my own studio for over 20 years. Currently a member of the Huntington Beach Art Center Artist Council, I enjoy participating in sponsored exhibits and events as well as supporting my fellow members whatever their artistic pursuits.

Captivated by the three-dimensional world of mixed-media mosaics since 2015, I now work exclusively in that field. My creative process begins as a general idea and then evolves "spontaneously" based on the individual patterns and colors presented by the glass, tiles and shells. Traditional mosaic grouting as well as the contemporary use of backfilling and pressing shells into thinset are used to give added depth, strength and beauty to the design. Inspired by mosaics of the late Ilana Shafir, I am a perfectionist when it comes to my own work. With a well developed eye for pattern and motif, I literally surf the Internet for the most interesting and beautiful materials for my creations as well as mold my own tiles from polymer clay. My years as a certified ocean SCUBA diver have given me a great love and affiliation for the wondrous world under the sea. The organic beauty and texture of a living coastal reef rather than a stylized composition of perfect shells is clearly seen in my mosaics. There will never be two pieces exactly alike
